Copyright versus AI: between the “Text and Data Mining” (TDM) exception, justice and negotiation

On March 19, 2025, a round table on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on copyright was held at the National Assembly, bringing together the Higher Council for Literary and Artistic Property (CSPLA), Professor Alexandra Bensamoun, the collective management companies, the collective management companies, SACD, SCAM, SACEM as well as the National Union of Journalists (SNJ)

There is great concern due to the use, by AI platforms, of content protected by copyright and related rights, without recognition and without remuneration of rights holders. Indeed, AI models train on masses of data, including cultural and artistic content.
