Olivier Lopez is a business lawyer with over twenty years of experience. He advises executives, investment funds and entrepreneurs on M&A, private equity and venture capital transactions, often in high-stakes and time-constrained environments.

After practising within leading international and French law firms, he came to the conclusion that the performance of law firms is less constrained by technical expertise than by their organisational models, incentive systems and internal dynamics. Squair was founded in 2019 as a direct response to this observation.

Squair was built around a simple objective: to create a law firm grounded in genuine expertise, individual responsibility and teamwork, without internal politics or hierarchies. The firm operates on a deliberately non-pyramidal structure, with strong partner involvement in the delivery of work and explicit operating rules designed to align the interests of lawyers with one another and with those of clients.

Alongside his legal practice, Olivier Lopez has long been interested in decision-making under pressure, cognitive biases, and the ways in which professionals structure — or distort — their judgment in complex situations. This reflection informs both Squair’s operating model, his writing projects, and the development of technological tools for lawyers, designed not to replace human judgment but to strengthen its efficiency.

He regularly speaks and writes on professional strategy, law firm organisation and decision-making in environments of uncertainty, and is currently developing research and publications aimed at lawyers and other professionals facing complex strategic choices.
